Our Aim
It is the aim of Speech and Drama Central Coast to help students develop skills in public speaking and acting as well as courage in expressing their ideas. Our students learn to work in a team, take direction and use their imagination. Our classes work on building confidence, improving language and reading skills, and developing strong self esteem for each student.
Heather started Speech and Drama classes at the age of 6 due to a speech impediment, those dreaded R’s just wouldn’t roll. From the age of 10 she started following the Australian Guild of Music and Speech syllabus and continued on to obtain an Associate Diploma (AAGMS), followed by a Bachelor Degree in Communications.
During her working life, Heather has held public speaking positions varying from guiding coaches throughout Europe to representing global brands at international trade shows. The speech and drama skills learned all those years ago proved critical in terms of delivering clear communication not only in everyday life but also in the corporate world.
Heather has not lost the love and passion she had for drama, for performing at eisteddfods or for local youth theatre. Now with three young children of her own, she has been reminded of the importance that confidence, self esteem and creativity in the formative years provides, and is passionate about giving children the same opportunities that she had through the study of Speech and Drama.
Heather holds a Diploma, Bachelor Degree, Working with Children Check and is a member of the Speech and Drama Association of NSW.
