Children are naturally dramatic so this class is designed for the dramatic little star in your life but has also been developed with your shy child in mind, who would benefit from a boost in self esteem to encourage them to express themselves. The class is focused on school readiness, topics such as communicating (to each other and adults), recognising basic sight words through fun games to encourage a love of literature and following instruction,  listening to others, memory recall and having fun with their own creativity.  This class is designed to find each child’s voice, and inner confidence, through dramatic play.

By this age most children have found their inner voice and may need help expressing their feelings in a clear and confident way.  Children who love to showcase their talents, “Let me put on a show for you”, the kids who love to be creative, “Look at what I made”, and students who would benefit from a safe environment to express themselves will all love this class which aims to grow public speaking skills, voice control, verbal and non-verbal communication and listening to others.

Each child receives poetry and prose reading to rehearse, developing reading skills, voice, pause and characterisation.  Impromptu speeches are given during the 10 week course to practice public speaking and encourage the joy of thinking and speaking with spontaneity.  We play theatre games which encourage problem solving, focusing attention, communicating an intended message and language development.  There will be opportunities to enter the Central Coast Eisteddfod for Speech and Drama and also graded examination with the I.M.E.B.

Public Speaking is such an important skill to develop, whether you’re a Doctor, Lawyer, Police Office, Plumber or Stay at home parent, being able to get your message across is the most important skill to develop.  This class gives vibrant and quieter children alike the self confidence to express their thoughts in a clear way showing enthusiasm and belief in themselves.

The structure of this class is similar to early primary but with more challenging and age appropriate readings and poetry.  In addition to this, week 10 will see the children put on a small play encouraging memory recall, team work, love of literature and acting.  Students will be able to mime, perform and think creatively in impromptu situations, growing their self belief and confidence in their creative abilities. Children will be encouraged to enter the Central Coast Eisteddfod for Speech and Drama and to study grade examinations with the I.M.E.B.

These classes are created depending on the age of the students, our lessons always expect greatness from the students and encourage creative thought and expression in a non-threatening environment.  All students will be encouraged to enter the Central Coast Eisteddfod for Speech and Drama for the practice of public speaking and performance, and to study grade examinations with the I.M.E.B which culminates at diploma level as either a Performer or Teacher.
